Programme Aim
The programme aims at equipping students with a sound knowledge base in applied social science as well as their personal and transferable skills associated with future employment.
Special Features

Flexible study mode allowing students to choose either the day-time or evening session.

Student performance is assessed on the basis of the prescribed coursework and dissertation.
Programme Administration
The programme will be administered by the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) in Hong Kong while the Sheffield Hallam University will monitor the teaching and progress of the programme.
Assessment and Award
All modules are assessed on the basis of students' coursework. Students will be recommended for the award of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Applied Social Science conferred by the Sheffield Hallam University upon completion of the programme.
Teaching and Learning Modes
In addition to self-directed learning, the programme will be delivered through lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials by academic staff from the Sheffield Hallam University and the SCOPE, City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Classes will be held at the main campus of CityU (Kowloon Tong) or the SCOPE Learning Centre.

A reading course may be provided for students to strengthen their knowledge of social sciences and research methods.

The BA (Hons) Applied Social Science is an exempted programme under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance (reference number 451254).
It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognize any qualification to which this programme may lead.
