CN2031 Communication & Research Methods
Module Leader: Dr. David Searle
To develop the students' communication ability by looking at: methods of communication within the construction industry, use of English, and research methods. Includes research methodology for undergraduate built environment students with emphasis on providing the student with skills and knowledge required to successfully carry out undergraduate modules and an undergraduate research project. It is reinforced with appropriate statistical methodologies.
CN2067 Construction Human Resource Management
Module Leader: Mr Sammy Chung
To develop an understanding of the basic concepts and theories of human resources, and their management, as applied to the construction industry.
CN2068 Integrated Project
Module Leader: Mr Keith Potts
To develop an understanding of the linkages and professional relationships between the various disciplines involved in the management of projects. This including the development of team working skills through completion of a group based project where students are brought together into multi-disciplinary teams within which a set of structured / interrelated tasks are undertaken in order to develop the students management, communication and problem solving skills. It provides an opportunity for experience to be gained of inter and intra disciplinary working.

Module Leader: Prof David Proverbs
To develop an understanding of the principles and applications of construction technologies related to high-rise construction.
CN3030 Project Planning and Control
Module Leader: Mr Sammy Chung
To develop an understanding of the basic concepts of project planning and how to prepare a construction programme manually and by using computer software. This module is an introduction to reasons for and methods of planning and controlling the production process, directly related to the construction industry.
CN3034 Construction Technology D
Module Leader: Mr Amrit Sagoo
To develop a greater awareness of the role of building technology in the total building process, in particular, the design, the construction practice and procedures influencing the overall life condition of the building. An important aspect of this will involve an evaluation of relevant technological concepts in terms of the industry¡¦s past, present and future requirements, in particular, the changing skills, legislation and resources. The contribution of these and other key ideas and concepts will be examined to enable critical appraisals and structural surveys to be carried out using various techniques as an aid in solving a wide range of complex problems in the design, construction and maintenance of buildings.
CN3035 Construction Management
Module Leader: Dr Rod Gameson
To provide specialist knowledge in the area of resource, financial and business management.
CN3036 Contractual Procedures B
Module Leader: Dr Issaka Ndekugri
To provide understanding of the legal framework within which construction firms and projects are managed.
CN3039 Development Economics Project
Module Leader: Mr Chris Williams
To give students a full and integrated understanding of all aspects of the development process.
CN3038 Construction and Property Finance
Module Leader: Mrs Alison Felce
To develop an understanding of the source of, and disposition, of capital for construction companies, and its control. To evaluate corporate performance, working capital needs of costing and budgetary control and investment appraisal.
CN3307 Dissertation (CPMS)
Module Leader: Prof David Proverbs
To develop the ability to research and report on a subject related to their degree programme. It facilitates the solving of a chosen problem or exploration of a chosen issue; and presentation of the results of such investigation in a formal report format.
