Andy Groves,
MSc, MBA (Financial Services), FCIB, Dip FS
Programme Manager, BA (Hons) Business Management
(Hong Kong
Andy is a Senior Lecturer
in Accounting and Finance, and is one of the Schools'
most experienced lecturers having joined the University
in 1990, prior to which he gained several years
experience in the UK retail banking sector. Since
then he has managed many courses at both undergraduate
and postgraduate levels, including corporate partnerships.
His teaching
areas include Business Finance, International
Trade Finance and Risk Financing & Management.
He is subject leader for Risk on a final year
undergraduate module ¡V Contemporary Issues in
Accounting and Finance, a role which involves
supervising students in preparation of research
proposals. He has professional links with the
Institute of Financial Services, for whom he is
a Lead Distance Learning Tutor, and is an External
Examiner for the Banking, Insurance and Risk Management
degree at another leading UK University. His research
interest is in the area of Risk Management and
Shareholder Value, and he hopes to commence work
on a PhD in this area during the 2007/08 academic
year. |

Dr Shaukat
Ali BSc(Eng) MA MBA PhD PGCE CEng MIET MCIM
Shaukat is Acting Head of
the Department of Strategy at the Business School.
He is a member of the Global Business and Technology
Association (USA), Chartered Institute of Marketing,
International Management Development Association,
(USA), Academy of International Business, (USA/UK),
Institute of Engineering and Technology and a
Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK).
He is a Board Director
of the Global Business and Technology Association
and a Regional Editor (Europe) of the Journal
of Global Business and Technology.
He mostly teaches
modules in strategic management and research methods.
He has published research in over 30 journals,
books and conference proceedings including the
Journal of East-West Business, Journal of Transnational
Management, Journal of International Management
Practice, Journal for East European Management
Studies, and Journal of Global Business and Technology.

John Bates,
BA (Hons), MBA, MHCIMA
After 20 years in international
business management in the hospitality industry,
including contract management in Saudi Arabia,
John returned to education to study Business and
Tourism at the University of Wolverhampton. He
is a Senior Lecturer in the Strategy Department
with award leadership responsibility within the
School.
As a key member of
the Enterprise and Entrepreneurship subject team
he develops and delivers Enterprise and Business
Management modules on the undergraduate and postgraduate
portfolio.
He has a particular
interest in the education of international students,
reflected in his award leadership and business
development roles, and improving the student experience.

Dr. Robert
Harris, BA(Hons), MBA, DBA
A Chartered Marketer, Rob's
current roles are Associate Director, Institute
for Innovation & Enterprise and Principal
Lecturer of Marketing.
His research interests
include Development of Capability and Knowledge
Transfer in Small Businesses, and E-Learning Opportunities
for SMEs. He has worked with over 300 small businesses
and provided consultancy support through government
agencies. Rob is also a member of the Charter
Institute of Marketing small business development
group.
Teaching interests:
International Marketing; European Entrepreneurial
Marketing; Marketing Communications; E-Marketing;
CPD learning programmes.

Andrew Hambler BA (Hons) MSc LLM PGCE MCIPD
Andrew is a senior lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Business School. He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has a background in human resource consulting, including some seven years working as a Consultant and then Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Andrew is also a member of the British Psychological Society and is licensed to conduct psychometric tests. Andrew holds masters degrees in both Human Resource Management (UMIST) and Law of Employment Relations (Leicester) and teaches employment law as well as the full range of human resource management subdisciplines, including learning and development.
Andrew is in the early stages of a PhD involving research into the freedom to manifest religious convictions in the workplace. He is highly involved in working with international students: he is the Course Leader for the University of Wolverhampton's full time MA in Human Resource Management (which attracts a high proportion of international students) and has carried out a number of overseas assignments (teaching and recruitment) whilst working at the university. |

Roger Jones
BA (Hons), MSc, DipManSc, DipTDM, MCIM, MIMechE,
FCIPD
Roger is a Senior Lecturer
at University of Wolverhampton Business School
and Academic Director to home and international
MBA programmes with a wide range of teaching experience
on overseas programmes. His main teaching and
research interests are in Enterprise & Entrepreneurship,
and strategic management practice in relation
to strategy development & change in organisations.
He is published in
the international 'best selling' strategic management
text ¡V Exploring Corporate Strategy, through his
research with the Eden Project in Cornwall, UK,
and leads the Postgraduate residential which won
the UWBS Learning and Teaching Innovation prize
in 2006.
He initially worked
as senior engineer designing cars for a leading
UK manufacturer, and as the lead commissioning
engineer for pre-production prototypes. Following
senior management training at Cambridge University
he became a board director with the international
GKN Group, and later as European Director for
an American oil company focused on strategic innovations
across European operations.
Before commencing
his academic career he provided consultancy and
management development and training services to
a range of international clients. He has extensive
business and management consultancy experience
and has designed and delivered a wide range of
innovative Corporate and Professional Development
initiatives.
He was instrumental
in founding the Institute for Financial Planning,
which has grown in national reputation and is
now recognised throughout the UK as the financial
services industry bench-mark of professional best
practice.

David Law,
BA (Hons), MAEcon, Cert Ed
Mr Law is the coordinator
for postgraduate dissertations in the Department
of International Business. He has extensive experience
in teaching and in supervising dissertations of
international students over many years and has
taught on summer schools for US and Canadian universities.
His teaching and
research interests include international trade,
finance, business strategy and multinational firms;
also economic policies and development in East
Asia.
He has written
one book on the 'Global Political Economy' as
well as several published articles the most recent
being on joint ventures in China's car industry.

Ian McKeown, BA (Hons) MSc PGCE CIMD
Ian is a member of the Enterprise and Strategy department at UWBS and is Leader for Scholarship and Academic Development within the Department. He is currently completing his doctoral studies in the field of entrepreneurial learning and has presented several papers at the International Small Business and Enterprise Conference.
In addition to his research and academic roles within the Business School, he has undertaken a number of consultancy and market research projects with a variety of firms in the West Midlands region. He is currently engaged as the lead academic in a knowledge transfer partnership programme with a manufacturing company in Wolverhampton; a two year project to strategically develop the business. He is also a member of the British Academy of Management.
Ian has a strong commitment to teaching and learning, having been awarded two teacher of the year prizes and completing the International Teachers Programme at Manchester Business School in 2002. His main areas of teaching include strategic management and entrepreneurship. |

Gurmak Singh,
BA (Hons), PGCE, DMS, MRES
Gurmak Singh is a Senior
Lecturer in the Department of International Business.
He has studied at University of Swansea, University
of Greenwich and Manchester Metropolitan University.
Before returning to higher education he worked
for several years as a computer programmer. He
worked for number of companies in London, developing
information systems for their business needs.
Currently, he is Chief Examiner for the National
Computer Centre, Examiner for University of East
Anglia and Examiner for the Association for Business
Executives. He teaches on undergraduate, post
graduate and professional courses within the University
Business School.
His current
research is on new product development and its
impact on speed-to-market working with colleagues
from University of Huddersfield and Monash University.
The research project involves examining the factors
that can speed up new product development in manufacturing
and electronics related firms. He has published
research and conference papers on the impact of
information technologies on business sectors and
eLearning. |
