International Banking Law
ĦE
This module provides an opportunity to analyse the rapidly developing areas of international banking law, the key principles of banking transactions and the regulatory requirements involved
ĦE
It will highlight practices and procedures within a framework of both UK and international systems
 
Financial Services Law and Financial Crime
ĦE
This module is designed to examine the developing law of financial services and white collar crimes and equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to understand the ethical justification for the approaches adopted and a consideration of their effectiveness with a focus on UK, EU and international regulations
ĦE
It will identify for analysis elements such as human rights legislation and the effect of national laws on international activities and crimes
 
Commercial Awareness
ĦE
This module highlights the laws of the UK, USA, Europe, the basic law of Hong Kong and China and identifies potential conflicts between them and how to deal most effectively with them
ĦE
It will highlight the key principles of Commercial Awareness and the inter-relationship between the commercial and legal aspects of international corporate and financial law
ĦE
It provides students with an understanding of the practical considerations involved
 
Research Methods
ĦE
This module will build on undergraduate research skills and enhance further students' abilities to produce work of an appropriate masters degree level
ĦE
It examines the current debates to develop theoretical and conceptual approaches in addressing how organisations deal with international corporate and financial regulatory requirements and/or abuses
 
International Corporate Finance
ĦE
This module examines the issues arising in corporate takeovers and mergers involving both private and listed companies, listing on stock exchanges, private equity finance, hedge funds and developments in international accountancy that impact on these areas. It will examine English and Hong Kong law in particular but also cross border issues with China and Hong Kong

It aims to allow students to analyse the legal issues that come from financial products used by large corporations and financial institutions
ĦE
A study of global financial markets and financial structures
 
International Corporate Governance
ĦE
This module considers international governance issues including those of the UK, USA, Europe and China
ĦE
It will provide an opportunity to examine the internal and external regulation of companies and governance issues

Consideration of the social and economic responsibilities of companies
 
International Corporate Liquidation
ĦE
This module considers English insolvency law and its application in cross-border cases, the European Union Insolvency Regulation, comparative American and Australian insolvency procedures and the new Chinese bankruptcy legislation

The purpose of this module is to explore the concept of corporate liquidation and rescue

An examination and evaluation of formal and informal insolvency administration procedures
 
Risk Management
ĦE
This module provides an introduction to the key principles of risk management and the relationship of regulation and legislation in international corporate and financial organization

It will highlight practices and procedures within a framework to put systems in place to help mitigate and manage risk
 
Advanced English for Lawyers
ĦE
This module aims to raise the standard of written and spoken English to the level of necessary to complete this programme bearing in mind the specialist vocabulary involved
 
Dissertation

This module aims to support students in the production of a piece of original work based on independent research designed to make a strategic contribution to the understanding of international corporate and financial practices
