I
have a LLB, can I apply? |
| |
Applicants to this LLM (Top-up) programme
need to be holders of Postgraduate Certificate
in Laws (PCLL) from HK or an equivalent
qualification such as Legal Practice Course
(LPC) or Bar Vocational Course (BVC) from
the UK. If you have a LLB but without
a PCLL, you can consider our another programme
LLM in International Corporate and Financial
Law.

May
I claim CPD points by studying this programme? |
| |
Both the LLM International Corporate
and Financial Law and the LLM ( Top-up)
are accredited by the Hong Kong Law Society
for CPD points.

| 3. |
Who
will be teaching the prorgramme? |
| |
All teaching will be delivered by the
professional teaching team from the School
of Legal Studies (SLS), University of
Wolverhampton. A supervisor from SLS,
who possesses the expertise of specific
subject areas, will be assigned to each
student for the supervision of the dissertation.

| 4. |
Is
there examination for each module? |
| |
Some modules have examination and assignment,
and some modules have assignment only
without examination. This depends on the
nature and design of the module.

| 5. |
How
do the classes schedule? |
| |
The
programme will be delivered in a block mode
by which students will be given pre-course
reading (where appropriate) for preparation
around 2 weeks before the face-to-face teaching,
then the face-to-face teaching of about
30 hours will be arranged over 9 days, followed
by assessments which usually take place
3 weeks after the last class.
The face-to-face teaching usually schedules

| 6. |
Besides
the face-to-face teaching, how can I meet
with the overseas lecturers? |
| |
There will be individual assignment clinics
scheduled normally on the last Sunday
and Monday for each module for students
to meet with the lecturer individually
to discuss their study and prepare for
the assessment.
When the lecturer is back to UK, email
contact is the most helpful and convenient
way to get in touch with the lecturer.
Students can also make use of SCOPE's
web-cam facilities to have video conferencing
with the UK lecturers if desired.

Is
attendance part of the assessment? |
| |
Attendance is not an assessment requirement.
However, students are strongly advised
to attend all the classes as this will
affect students' learning and there may
be group assignment for some modules for
which students need to work with other
classmates.
Additionally, many modules of this programme
are CEF (Continuing Education Fund) reimbursable
courses; a minimum attendance of 70% is
required for the purpose of reimbursement.

Do
I have to buy reading material/textbook
for the programme? |
| |
Students will be given a set of well-structured
study material for each module from the
University of Wolverhampton's e-learning
platform and can access CityU's library
with remote access to selected e-resources.

Where
is the location of the classes? |
| |
Classes are usually held in SCOPE@CityU
(Kowloon Tong) or SCOPE Admiralty Learning
Centre (Admiralty), or other designated
SCOPE Learning Centres.

Will
there be selection interview? |
| |
If necessary, shortlisted applicants
may be invited to attend a selection interview.

| 11. |
I
will be completing my Postgraduate Certificate
in Laws (PCLL) this year, can I apply now?
But I do not have the final transcript yet. |
| |
We accept applications from current final
year students who will be completing their
Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL)
before commencing this programme. Applicants
can submit application with the transcripts
that they have for our initial consideration
and will be required to submit the final
transcript/certificate to us later on.

When
will the admission results be announced?
Will each individual applicant be informed
of the result in mail, email, or phone call? |
| |
Applicants will be notified of their
application results by mail 5-6 weeks
after submission of application and necessary
documents. Applicants can check their
status on our website at www.cityu.edu.hk/ce/enrol/que
seven working days after submission of
application. An acknowledgment of application
will also be sent to applicants via email.

| 13. |
When
do I need to pay the 1st instalment? |
| |
An offer letter will be issued to applicants
who are admitted to the programme. Applicants
will then be required to pay the 1st instalment,
together with the processing and registration
fee for the Accreditation for Prior Achievement
(APA) and graduation fee, in 2 weeks'
time to confirm their acceptance of the
offer.

How
long do I need to complete the programme? |
| |
It depends on which route you choose.
If you choose Route 1, you can start up
your dissertation in the middle of the
Research Methods and you may be able to
complete the whole programme in as fast
as 1 year. If you choose Route 2, the
duration depends on the schedule of your
selected module.

When
do I need to choose my route? |
| |
You will be asked to indicate your choice
of route, and also your selected module
if you choose Route 2, by the time you
accept the offer.
|

| 16. |
If
I choose Route 1, how can I complete the
30-credit Research Methods? |
| |
You will be taking the 15-credit Research
Methods with the students of LLM in International
Corporate and Financial Law. And to finish
with the extra 15 credits, you will be
required to attend additional sessions
which are to be arranged with you by the
Module Leader.

If
I choose Route 2, will I be joining the
LLM in International Corporate and Financial
Law for the taught modules? |
| |
Yes. You will be joining the students
of LLM in International Corporate and
Financial Law for your selected 15-credit
module.
