Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) workshop - Counseling Psychology for Chinese Population

This workshop will address recent organizational and practice developments in counseling psychology in Taiwan. Major themes of the presentation include: the establishment of Taiwan Counseling Psychology Association, the training and licensure of counseling psychologist, psychologist manpower, utilization pattern of counseling and psychotherapy with Chinese population, counseling psychologist’s working settings and professional services. The speaker will review research on Chinese’s perceptions and utilizations of counseling, and share his clinical experiences in working with Chinese clients. The implications of current research and practice in counseling psychology in Taiwan for other regions of Chinese populations will also be discussed.

Speaker Dr. Josh Chia-Hsin Lin is a professor of the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, and a past-director of the University Counseling Center at National Taiwan Normal University. He is the founding president of Taiwan Counseling Psychology Association, a past-president of Taiwan Guidance and Counseling Association, and a board member of the Taiwan Psychotherapy Association. He is a California licensed psychologist and a Taiwanese licensed counseling psychologist. His areas of professional and research interests include: community mental health, counseling and psychotherapy utilization, professional and ethical issues, and parenting education group. Dr. Lin also has a rich experience in conducting counseling workshops both in Taiwan and mainland China.
