1991

Established as Centre for Continuing Education, City Polytechnic of Hong Kong.
Offered 65 courses in collaboration with CityU's teaching departments.
In collaboration with a teaching department, offered the first CityU self-financing, part-time, postgraduate programme.

1992

One of the first institutions among local universities to offer top-up degree programmes in partnership with overseas universities.
Jointly offered courses on investment and finance with Hong Kong Economic Times.

1993

Provided corporate training service for the public and private sectors.
Offered programmes at the certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in addition to short courses.

1994

Renamed School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE), City University of Hong Kong.
Appointed as Microsoft University, Hong Kong.
Authorised to provide preparatory courses for Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) examination and administered the examination in Hong Kong.
Authorised by Beijing Language Institute to administer the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) in Hong Kong.
Authorised as the only institute to offer qualifying programme for membership of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong.

1995

Authorised to administer the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for Education Testing Service of USA.
Collaborated with Cable TV to produce TV learning programmes on China law and TV Production. Assisted RTHK to produce a 13-espisode TV programme on China law.

1996

Multi-level self-learning materials for Putonghua published.

1997

Offered optional language courses to regular CityU students.
Dedicated facilities at Academic Exchange Building on CityU campus opened.
Offered the first Doctor of Education (EdD) programme in Hong Kong, in collaboration with University of Bristol of United Kingdom.

1998

One of the first institution to provide professional programmes for property agents.
The first institution to offer internet security programmes for the American Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) qualification.

1999

Received HK$13 million from the Government for training programme in digital technology.
The first education organisation to provide computer animation and digital effects programmes using Motion Capture Equipment.
Authorised by the UK Chartered Institute of Environment Health (CIEH) to offer Intermediate Food Hygiene programmes.

2000

The first institution to offer Diploma in Nursing (Traditional Chinese Medicine).
The first institution appointed as Oracle programme Authorised Trainer.
Director (SCOPE), serving as Chairman of The Federation for Continuing Education in Tertiary institutions, helped to formulate policies and support measures for the rapid development of self-financing sub-degree programmes to meet the target of 60% participation rate in Higher Education, and to establish a Common Descriptor for Associate Degree programmes for the territory.
Director (SCOPE), serving as Chairman of Working Group on Continuing Education of the Education Commission, proposed the outline and the setting up of a Qualification Framework for Hong Kong.
Participated in the development of Project Yi Jin programme, a secondary school remedial programme, the Government support the programme with a HK$60 million subsidy.
Opened a Learning Centre at Inno Building at Tat Chee Avenue.

2001

Offered the first accounting degree programme leading to an overseas award and accredited by the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Public Accountant.
Introduction of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) programmes.
Acquired and opened the SCOPE Admiralty Learning Centre with a floor space of 20,000 sq ft at United Centre.

2002

The first institution to offer a programme in Cosmetology (Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Director (SCOPE) awarded a Medal of Honour for his contribution to continuing education and lifelong learning.

2003

First and only institution authorised by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) to provide hospitality management programmes in Hong Kong.
The first institution to offer preparation course for Certification in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) International Education in Hong Kong.
SCOPE Jockey Club Environment Building Learning Centre at To Yuen Street opened.
Introduction of the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) training programmes authorised by PMIHK.
Offered Pre-Associate Degree programme with CCCU.

2004

Handed over 21 self-financing programmes leading to CityU awards back to teaching departments.
Achieved top enrolments on the AHLEI hospitality management programmes - the number of learners on the Hospitality Management programme equalled to the total enrolment in the rest of Asia-Pacific region leading to American Hotel and Lodging Association qualifications.

2005

Opened 20,000 ft2 SCOPE TST Learning Centre.
Authorised as Chartered Financial Planning (CFP) education programmes provider.
Offered the first taught postgraduate programmes in Music and Finance (Taxation) in Hong Kong in collaboration with Mainland universities, Beijing Conservatory of Music and Qinan University.

2006

Director (SCOPE) received an Honorary Doctor of Education from De Montfort University for his contribution to continuing education and lifelong learning.
SCOPE Jordan Learning Centre opened.

2007

The first institution reviewed by the Institutional Review of Joint Quality Review Committee.
Offered the Doctor of Psychology (Clinical PsyD) programme in Hong Kong, in collaboration with California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University, USA.

2008

The School set up four academic sections, namely Arts and Communication, Business and Management, Sciences and Technology, and Social and Human Sciences to receive 67 full-time academic staff from CCCU.
Took over the conduct of 14 full time Top-up Undergraduate Degree programmes in collaboration with overseas universities from CCCU.
With the enactment of the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance (Cap 592), the first batch of SCOPE Continuing Education programmes were registered on the Qualifications Register of Hong Kong.

2009

The School became the first institution to participate in the pilot local accreditation exercise for non-local programmes administered by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. Four top-up degree awards in the Computing and IT discipline offered in collaboration with Staffordshire University and Coventry University were accredited at Level 5 of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework.
Director (SCOPE) awarded an Honorary Doctor of Education by Edinburgh Napier University for his contribution to continuing education and lifelong learning.

2010

SCOPE Tsim Sha Tsui East Learning Centre opened.
SCOPE Shenzhen Learning Centre opened.

2011

Three top-up degree awards in the Design discipline offered in collaboration with Swinburne University of Technology were accredited at Level 5 of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework.

2012

Three top-up degree awards in the General Business discipline offered in collaboration with De Montfort University, Edinburgh Napier University and Oxford Brookes University were accredited at Level 5 of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework.
