Message from the Director

Welcome to the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) of City University of Hong Kong.

Since its establishment in 1991, CityU SCOPE has been a pioneer and major provider of quality professional and lifelong education in Hong Kong. Our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are academically sound and career-relevant. Our professional development programmes cater to corporate training needs; fulfill learners' continuing professional development (CPD) requirements; and prepare candidates for professional examinations. The School has recently launched a series of emerging technology and application courses to improve learners’ IT skills and bridge the digital divide.

In the past two decades, the School and its partner universities have nurtured more than 30,000 graduates of non-local top-up Bachelor’s degree (Hons) programmes to enter into a world of work and contribute to different sectors of society. Leveraging its excellent record of accomplishment, the School has launched nine 3-year non-local Bachelor’s degree (Hons) programmes since 2016, as a distinctive option of further studies for secondary school graduates.

The quality assurance system of the School follows the internal validation process of City University of Hong Kong, which is rigorous and sound. The non-local Bachelor’s degree (Hons) programmes have been successfully accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). The accreditation can guarantee the quality of individual programme and the eligibility of our full-time students to apply for grants and loans, as well as internship and scholarship schemes offered by the Government of the HKSAR. Graduates of these programmes are recognised by the Government of the HKSAR for employment.

The well-qualified teaching teams from the School and its non-local partner universities are committed to nurturing and developing individual talent through a well-articulated curriculum. Their success has been reflected by the satisfaction of students in the corresponding teaching feedback questionnaires, and the competence of our graduates in coping with challenges in different workplaces.

The School cares a lot about its students. We provide a wide range of student development services to prepare students for further studies and their future careers. We have also established a range of awards and scholarships to recognise outstanding academic and non-academic achievements of our students. Career and employment services are available. Counselling services support students to handle their personal issues and adjust to university life.

Echoing our continued effort in enhancing students’ English proficiency, the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) granted us resources to establish a dedicated English Language Centre, for more elaborative provisions. In 2018, the School further obtained another multi-million dollar grant to form a Student Industrial Attachment Service Center to expand the horizon of work placement arrangement. Through structured industrial attachment guidance, preparation, workplace practice and learning consolidation, such endeavor enhances the career readiness and employability of our full-degree and top-up degree students.

Learning is a continuous process. The School guides you to locate the next destination to quality university education.
