Leong Man Fung, Robin Engineer, HAESL
(2017 Graduate, Top-up degree)
I joined the Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Ltd (HAESL) after graduation. This is a company that provides overhaul services for civil aircraft engines, serving customers from all over the world. As an engineer, I have to supervise four production sections. The daily duties include engine inspection and maintenance, problem solving, personnel planning and coaching, and special project supervision.
From CityU SCOPE’s BSc (Hons) in Aviation Management, I have learned a lot of knowledge. One module that helped me most in my career would be Project Management. Nowadays, “Innovation” has become an essential strategic project for all industries, and that innovation related work are carried out in the form of projects. The Project Management of the programme is hands-on, covering all the details and key points in the project implementation thoroughly, in which, the knowledge helped me to deal with maintenance capacity and process improvement projects that I am responsible for now.
The most unique feature of this programme is some lectures are taught by working professionals in Hong Kong’s aviation industry, therefore the contents cited during class are the most realistic examples which is very practical. In addition, the lecturers always share us their valuable work experiences which is beneficial to us aspiring to develop our career in the aviation industry.
Mr. Vector Wong, our programme leader, was also my dissertation supervisor. He has left an impression on us about his initial intention for running this programme. He expressed that there weren’t many programmes about Aviation in Hong Kong back then, during his fledgling days in the industry, his knowledge of the industry came from the teachings of his predecessors, and he now hopes to systematically transfer this knowledge to the next generation. I am very fortunate to have been able to learn from Mr. Vector Wong, and had benefited a lot. My future goals and plans are also to pass on the knowledge I have learnt to my juniors, and to pass on this spirit of education to the next generations.
Wong King Yin Eric
(2019 Student, Top-up degree)
After completed the first trimester, I have to say the lecturers are all very knowledgeable and experienced, whom I learnt a lot from them. Moreover, the program is also very comprehensive and the subjects are all rounded. I truly believe that would be beneficial for my future career development.
