Our Service

Our Individual Counselling Services are not solely for students who suffer from mental illness or serious psychological distress. We believe that counselling is not only about fixing problems but also for exploring, nurturing and developing our adaptabilities, coping abilities, functionality and potential. You will benefit from talking to counsellors who will guide you to discover your personal attributes and strengths, and to learn ways to live a more fulfilling life.

You can discuss your personal issues with our counsellors who actively guide you to understand your struggles and develop possible solutions. Common concerns of students are as follows:

  • Study and learning
  • Difficulties in adjusting to university life
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Personal development
  • Emotional distress
  • Mental health concerns

Confidentiality

All information shared with a counsellor of the Unit and all written materials remain confidential unless the student authorizes, in writing, that information be communicated to specific others. The counsellor, however, may disclose information deemed necessary to protect the student or others from imminent physical danger or upon legal obligations such as court order.

Remarks: After the initial counselling meeting, our School counselors may refer students to YWCA for additional counselling follow-up upon obtaining the consent from students.
