

The reference area is set up to support students' learning. These regulations
have been formulated to enable students to maximize the use of the reference
area.

The opening hours are posted on the first floor of TSTE and may be varied in
accordance with the demand and opening of the Resources Centre.

Admission to the Reference Area will be restricted to holders of a valid SCOPE
student / staff card.

SCOPE student / staff cards must be produced when borrowing materials in the
Reference Area. Cards are not transferable, and may not be used on behalf of
other persons.

The loan period is by calendar days (including Sundays and
Public Holidays).

If the return due date is on non-opening days, due date will be postponed to the next working day.
Borrowing procedure
No materials shall be removed from the Reference Area until they have been
properly checked out at the Service Counter.
A borrower shall, before leaving the reference area, ensure
that the books on loan is undamaged and in good condition.
Recall
All materials checked out for more than 10 days are subject to recall. There
will be a new due date superseding the previous one listed on the due date
slip. If the material is not returned within the period, HK$3.00 per calendar
day will be charged on each overdue item. Please note that there is no grace
period for any recall item.
Renewal
All checked out books may be renewed twice provided that they are not reserved
by another user. Any overdue fines must be cleared before a renewal can be
made. Renewal is treated as a continuation of loan and thus will be subject to
recall at any time.
Return Procedure
All users must return the loan items to the staff on duty at the Service
Counter of the Reference Area.
Late Return and Fines
The users must check the item due date by themselves and make sure that they
return the books before the due date. No separate notice will be sent to remind
users of overdue books.
Fines for the late return of loan
materials will be charged as follows:
Overdue Fines: HK$3.00 per item per calendar
day (Excluding Sundays & Public Holidays)
Non-payment of bills or fines over $60 will automatically result in
suspension of borrowing privileges.

Loss and Damage
Users shall be held responsible for any loss of or damage of the loan materials
and shall be responsible for replacement cost and the accumulated fines. No
fees will be refunded if the borrower subsequently finds the lost item after
paying the fees and fines.
Copyright
Users should follow the Copyright Ordinance (Chapter 528) which governs the
making of photocopies or other reproduction of copyrighted materials.
Code of Conduct in the Reference Area
All users shall follow the Code of Conduct in the Reference
Area.
