"The EdD Programme has inspired me to think with deeper and wider perspectives about education. The taught courses are well managed and provide a solid foundation on various aspects of education. The dissertation is demanding, and sure there were frustrating moments, but intellectually stimulating. As an educator, I believe myself better equipped than before. As a learner and researcher, I found myself more confident and critical."

She is a devoted teacher and is dedicated to contributing to curriculum development and quality teaching. Her research and teaching interests lie in the fields of older adults and group work practice.
The Bristol EdD to me is full of pains and joys. I enjoyed the moments when our classmates joined together to share our views in class or at lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. I remember that when I first started the first taught unit in September 2000, I thought the lessons would never come to an end and wondered how I could survive to the end of the programme. Yet time flew so quickly then, I felt sad when it was time to say good bye at the last unit. I have indeed learnt a lot from the programme. The work on my dissertation was a lonely journey. It required perseverance and hard work. There were many times when I felt like giving up. But it was so wonderful when I finally submitted my dissertation and passed the viva. I am glad that I have jumped over all the hurdles and reached my destination."

Self Introduction
Eva began teaching as a secondary school teacher and later moved to serve children with special educational needs. After completing the Master of Education in special needs at the University of Bristol, she moved to the higher education sector and began her involvement in providing programmes at the Hong Kong Institute of Education for teachers working with children with special educational needs. The movement of inclusive schooling in Hong Kong gives rise to her concern about the benefits to teachers participating in these courses. She is committed to helping teachers, particularly those in the mainstream setting, to see the meaning of such learning to their practice.

"It was a dream to me when I was told I had passed the viva. I started doing the doctoral study part-time, but at the end took leave of absence so that I could work full-time on writing up my dissertation. This is my second enjoyable and memorable study experience since the start of my teaching career. It is fortunate for me that both these (my second and third degrees) were connected to the University of Bristol. In the future, I intend to do better by doing less. I hope that this is the optimal way for me to contributing to a better educational environment in Hong Kong as well as the world."

"I was accepted into several PhD programmes but decided to study at the University of Bristol because I thought that the teaching staff would be the most supportive and flexible. This initial hunch paid off since I found all of my lecturers to be very positive and encouraging. My advisor was most responsive and the administrative staff always helpful. I never was given any indication that I might be a second class student or in some special category because I was studying overseas. Selecting this programme was certainly the right choice for me."

"The EdD is actually my second doctoral degree. The reason why I ventured to take this programme is that I want to better equip myself in the field of education. After reviewing various similar programmes offered in UK, I chose the Bristol programme which I considered as the best with its content suiting me well. Throughout my years of study, I found the course intellectually stimulating and it has further broadened my horizon. My experience in taking this course proved that my choice was correct."
