Staff development is important for enhancing the preparedness of academic staff. Click to read the "Guidelines on Staff Development for Academic Staff (the Guidelines)" endorsed by the Quality Assurance Committee.
Please Note: Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, EDGE is arranging for two EESS seminars to be available on video during the 2020-21 academic year. Faculty and instructional staff may register and complete the video seminars anytime before June 15, 2021. Those who achieve ‘completion’ will receive an In-house, HRO staff development credit in June 2021 for each EESS seminar completed.

In view of this, the International Conference on Higher Education - Curriculum for Discovery and Innovation, will be held on 16 May 2020 at City University of Hong Kong to provide a platform for local and overseas professionals and practitioners, to exchange educational practices and share success stories with exemplary student works. Student projects will also be selected for poster presentation.
The one-day conference will cover the following areas:
- Pedagogical approaches for integrating discovery and innovation in the curriculum
- Assessment and measure of learning outcomes manifested discovery and innovation
- Curriculum development and instructional design for discovery and innovation education
- Use of technologies to enhance teaching and learning Discovery and Innovation

This 90-minute EDGE lunchtime staff development seminar will provide an overview of types of discussions, as well as reasons for using them, ways to initiate them, problems and solutions with discussions, and effects on students. Participating colleagues will be encouraged to share their own teaching experiences during the seminar. A light lunch will be served.

That will be immediately followed by an orientation to the new EDGE Video Production Studio with the studio staff. Making your own 10-minute lecture videos can facilitate your students’ learning as they are able to learn where and when they want. Come join us for this seminar to learn how EDGE can help you transition from Lecturer to Director and Producer! A light lunch will be served.
