Joanne Lau graduated in 2021 with a first-class honours degree in Business Administration and Management (BABAM) with the best dissertation award.

瞬眼間,我終於達到我其中一個的夢想,便是完成大學取得學士學位。以下是我由選擇報謮此課程到完成整個課程及成功畢業的分享。 因為家庭問題,很早便踏足社會工作，從事各種推廣及銷售工作，最終選定在一些國際知名的時裝大機構發展。經過多年工作累得一定經驗，有幸晉升到中層管理職位，但很快便發覺同事提及一些學術用的專有名詞或商業管理知識都不懂，使我在工作職位上有少少缺乏安全的感覺。從那一刻開始，便去搜尋進修商業管理的課程，因本身已有相等於高級文憑的學歷，最後決定報謮 由CityU SCOPE和De Montfort University (DMU) 合辦的商業行政及管理(榮譽)文學士 (兼讀制銜接學位課程) / BA (Hons) Business Administration and Management (Part Time) BABAM 課程。報讀此課程主要原因是這課程開辦了有二十多年，此課程更獲得了香港學術及職業資歷評審局(HKCAAVQ)評為資歷架構第五級，等同於本地大學學位資格，使我可以完成此學位繼續進修。另外此課程的科目非常實用, 靈活及具彈性。同學可以在第二學期就自已喜愛及工作發展， 去選擇專修市場推廣或人力資源管理專業科目。所以我好快便毫不豫疑決定報讀此課程。

I have been running my business in construction field over 12 years. In 2010, I took part in BSc (Hons) in Construction Management which not only enhances knowledge and theories but also augment technical skills for everyday application to fit in my business, especially in construction planning and programming, and contract administration.

It is my honour to share with you, the fruitful experience I have gained from taking this course. On top of my busy work schedule, I spent most of my spare time, similarly to my fellow classmates, studying for the past two years. All the hard work and effort became worthwhile when I eventually graduated and obtained this award as a result.

I pursue to learn more construction knowledge, technical and management skill in the Build Environment since I had graduated in the Higher Diploma in Interior and Environmental Design. I therefore opted studying this programme as my key decision for my profession in project management. I will further enhance my career by acquiring recognition from the professional bodies in my future.

This programme broadens my horizon by assembling the practical cases on different aspects of the Built Environment Sector. I have been trained with the comprehensive knowledge that all related employees shall face in the workplace. I appreciate the supports given by the teachers of UoW and SCOPE who provide guidance by coming across the trial and error experience with us together. The programme could definitely enhance our continuous pursue of profession in our career development. This programme open the way for immersing into the Built Environment Sector.

The School has well organised a conversion course for us in Summer before commencement of the programme, so that the students who are lacking in the bachelor’s degree in relation to the Construction Management/Quantity Surveying disciplines like me could quickly adapt to studies.

"The classes were taught by experienced lecturers who were always enthusiastic and provided quality teaching which enriched my knowledge public administration. They were always helpful, supportive, and willing to share their experience and discuss with us all the time. The learning atmosphere in class is obvious good. I was most impressed by the module “Experiential Workshops”. Via the experiential exercise, role play, as well as the group discussions and presentations, our communication skills, leadership and problem-solving skills have been greatly enhanced."
